Fire Station 2

Fire Station 2 was built in 1990 and serves the southwest quadrant of the city. Station 2's district includes a variety of facilities including Saint Francis Medical Center, West Park Mall, Cape Central and Notre Dame high schools, Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, an industrial park, hotels, restaurants, apartment complexes, and much of Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau.

Engine 2
Engine 2 is a 2017 Rosenbauer Commander Triple-Combination Pumper, 1500 GPM Waterous Pump and 750-gallon water tank powered by a Cummins ISL 450 Diesel Engine with GreenStar Technology. This apparatus is staffed by three, cross-trained personnel and is equipped to respond to a variety of fire, rescue, and medical incidents.
Ladder 2
Ladder 2 is a 2006 Smeal/Spartan 100 ft. telescoping platform aerial with a 2,000 GPM pump and a 300-gallon tank. It is powered by a Caterpillar Diesel through its Allison 4000 EVP automatic transmission. Ladder 2 is a non-staffed reserve ladder truck.
Airport 2
New Airport 2, placed in service in April of 2018, is a Rosenbauer Airwolf C3 on an International 7400 SFA 4x4 chassis with a Navistar S3300 Diesel engine. It carries 750 gallons of water, 90 gallons of foam concentrate, and 500 pounds of dry chemical to combat jet fuel fires. It has hand-held hoses capable of releasing water, foam or dry chemical. It also has a front bumper mounted remote nozzle that can release water or foam at 250 GPM or can be used with the dry chemical. The front bumper nozzle also has a FLIR system that enables the driver and officer to be able to see infrared and heat sources through the smoke. It is housed at Station 2 and is at the airport on standby for the flights that come in 18 times per week.
