City of Cape Girardeau Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
Welcome to the City of Cape Girardeau’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program webpage! The CDBG program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is designed to support community development projects that address critical needs in low- and moderate-income areas. Our goal is to enhance affordable housing, improve public infrastructure, and promote services that uplift vulnerable residents within the community.
About the CDBG Program
The CDBG program is a vital resource that enables cities like Cape Girardeau to tackle key issues such as:
-
Affordable Housing: Ensuring access to safe and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families.
-
Infrastructure Improvements: Enhancing public facilities such as streets, water systems, and parks.
-
Economic Development: Supporting job creation, small business growth, and workforce development.
-
Public Services: Providing assistance for services like healthcare, education, and housing counseling for low-income residents.
