City Vehicle Maintenance & Management
The Fleet Division is responsible for the maintenance of many different types of equipment, including everything from mowers to dump trucks. Fleet must coordinate repairs and purchases so all divisions have the right equipment at the right time to get the job done.
Our Fleet Maintenance Division:
- Includes six hands-on mechanics
- Maintains and repairs more than 1,000 pieces of equipment and vehicles
- Completes more than 4,000 repairs annually
- Performs more than 500 preventative maintenance services annually
- Dispenses more than 200,000 gallons of fuel each year for all City divisions
- Keeps an inventory of frequently used parts and tires
- Writes specifications and purchases City vehicles and equipment
- Conducts online equipment auctions through Gov Deals or Purple Wave
- Maintains buildings and grounds for the Public Works Service Center (12 acres and 98,000 square feet of office and shop area)
- Maintains radios and the automatic vehicle location system for Public Works
- Maintains backup generators
- Accepts used motor oil & other acceptable fluids for reuse. Information on this program can be found on the recycling page
