City Council

Elections for Mayor and City Council are held in April of even-numbered years, unless a vacancy occurs.

Election for City Council Wards 3, 4, 5

  • September, 25, 2023 - Nominating Petitions available in the Office of the City Clerk, 44 North Lorimier
  • October 24, 2023 - Filing opens
  • November 21, 2023 - Filing closes
  • February 6, 2024 - Primary Election IF more than 2 candidates file for any 1 office
  • April 2, 2024 - General Election

Election for Mayor and City Council Wards 1,2,6

  • The April General Election will be in 2026

Nominations of candidates for all elective offices shall be by petition obtained from the Office of the City Clerk. Petitions for election shall be signed by not less than 50 registered voters who are residents of the ward for which the candidate is seeking nomination. 

Candidates will appear on the ballot in the order of the filing of the nomination petitions certified sufficient.

Other Ballot Measures

The City Council may set special elections for various issues, with such special elections being held only on dates designated by the Missouri Secretary of State. Registered voters of the City may file with the city an initiative or referendum petition to consider an ordinance or a recall petition for the Mayor or City Council member.  If said petition is found sufficient, the issue will be placed on a ballot for public vote, with such election being held only on dates designated by the Missouri Secretary of State.
