The Cape Girardeau Police Department's Scientific Investigation Unit houses our evidence. It is comprised of a supervisor, who holds the rank of Corporal, and one full-time evidence clerk.
The Unit is is responsible for processing major crime scenes, maintaining all physical evidence, maintaining all photographs taken by the Department, and processing and submitting evidence to the Missouri State Crime Lab.
In addition to personnel immediately assigned to the Unit, each patrol platoon is assigned two evidence technicians that are trained to process crime scenes and collect physical evidence.
