    • $25 admission, Center for Massage Therapy & Sound Healing
      • Third Annual Ringing in the New Year Sound Bath. Please Join Leah and I as we make a joyful sound and celebrate this auspicious day for new beginnings.   • Feeding Frenzy (Jan. 4, 3:00-3:45pm)
  • Free Admission, Cape Girardeau Nature Center
    • Discover the importance of Missouri reptiles and amphibians and see what it takes to keep our education animals happy and healthy. Bring your family and watch as we introduce and feed several different reptiles and amphibians.
  • Winter Garage Sale (Jan. 6 – 7:00-11:00am)
    • $1 admission, Osage Centre
      • Shop for any item imaginable at the Osage Centre winter garage sale! Sales typically include 70+ booths. If you are interested in selling items, booth space is available for $25. Booth space is reserved by attending a booth lottery drawing, and booth space is not guaranteed. Garage sale admission: $1/Person.   • January Health & Wellness Seminar: What’s my Calorie Goals? (Jan. 9 – 12:00-12:45pm)

  • S.T.A.R. Bowling Night (Jan. 11 – 6:00-8:00pm)
    • Free upon pre-registering, West Park Lanes
      • S.T.A.R. is a community therapeutic recreation program serving individuals who are unable to successfully participate in regular recreation programs. Most individuals with special needs may participate in S.T.A.R. programs. Persons of all ages who are in special education classes, workshops, or who have leisure needs not met by traditional recreation programs are eligible. This includes those varying degrees of developmental delays, mental and physical disabilities, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, emotional difficulties, and hearing or visual impairments. The S.T.A.R. programs meets monthly and events are free. Please register in advance with the number of participants and number of staff members that will be attending.   • Cape Girardeau Show Me Reptile & Pet Expo (Jan. 13, 9:00am-3:30pm)
    • Osage Centre, $5 Kids/$10 GA/$15 VIP
      • Calling all reptile lovers! The Osage Centre is hosting a reptile & pet expo for families and animal enthusiasts to come see an astounding collection of reptiles, amphibians, and exotic mammals- some which may be for sale! VIP admission to this event begins at 9:00am, with general admission starting shortly after at 10:00am. AS a way to say thanks- military members, first responders, and teachers are eligible for 50% entry all day- and accompanied kids 12 or under receive free admission all day as well!   • 4th Annual “When Pigs Fly” Indoor BBQ Bash (Jan. 13, 10:30am-6:00pm)
    • $10-$30 per admission, Show Me Center
      • The 4th Annual When Pigs Fly Indoor BBQ Bash returns to the Show Me Center. Enjoy the indoor temperatures, where it is guaranteed to be 70 degrees, with the amazing outdoor flavors and aroma of BBQ. Master of Ceremonies by Myron Mixon (Winningest MAN in BBQ)! Mathew Griner (Southern Q) to be doing cooking demos throughout the day. Happening again this year is the PRO BBQ Team’s Steak Cookoff Association contest. Watch while the teams compete to take home the glory. Admission includes SAMPLING at ALL Professional BBQ teams 10 booths for BBQ (People’s Choice Judging) and the Hero’s Cup! Doors open at 10:30am, Judging ends at 5pm with awards to follow.

  • Cardinals Caravan (Jan. 15, 5:30-7:30pm)
    • $6 per person, Osage Centre
      • Have you ever wanted to meet a St. Louis Cardinals baseball player? Here’s your chance! This caravan gives the fans a chance to meet past and present Cardinal players, participate in a Q&A, and get player autographs (for kids only). Proceeds benefit the Parks & Recreation Foundation. Doors open at 4:30p.m. and the program begins at 5:30p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the A.C. Brase Arena or Osage Centre. For more information, contact Josh at [email protected].
  • New Year’s Resolution Warriors Sessions Begin (Wednesdays Jan. 17-Mar. 6, 5:30-6:30pm)
    • $45 per participant, Osage Centre
      • How are you doing with your health goals? Join us for this specialized class to focus on each one of your goals from weight loss, strength gain or just a healthier lifestyle! Meet weekly with a fitness specialist to stay on track and reach your goals faster and help keep you motivated. This class includes a pre and post assessment, nutrition education, recipes, goal setting guidance and more. Stick with it and earn your free warrior prize! REGISTRATION DEADLINE is Jan. 15!
  • 2024 Nature Needers - First Session: Missouri Wildflowers (Jan. 18, 6:00-7:00pm)
    • Free (Registration Required), Cape Girardeau Nature Center
      • This class is a series of 12 programs that meets once each month, all year long. You will learn simple, but beautiful, embroidery techniques as we explore some iconic, as well as secretive wildflowers in Missouri. These flowers will range from our Ozark mountain glades to our lowland swamps. Attending each class will acquaint you with each flower’s habitat needs, bloom period, and light requirements. In addition, you will learn more about who pollinates the plant and who might depend on the plant for food. Come learn about pollinators such as monarch butterflies, bumble bees, moths and even gnats! By signing up you are committing to attend all 12 monthly sessions, with the opportunity to complete 17 blocks. Programs will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00 pm or 6:00 pm at the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. Please sign up for the time that works best for you . You will need to supply your own embroidery hoop, needle, and thread. We will have patterns, fabric, light boards, and Frixion pens available for tracing the patterns. A similar virtual program is also offered if you wish to provide your own supplies.
  • BootHeel Bluegrass Festival (Jan. 18-20, 7:00-10:00pm)
    • $10-$30, Bavarian Halle – Fruitland, MO
      • 3 fun days filled with Bluegrass music, multiple bands, vendors and fun! Join us at the Bavarian Halle by Drury Inn in Fruitland, MO. Thursday’s showtime is from 7pm to 10pm, Friday’s showtime is 2pm to 10pm, and Saturday’s showtime is 1pm-10pm.Weekend passes are $30, and ages 16 and younger get free admission. Tickets are only available at the door.
  • Carmen: The Opera (Jan. 19, 7:30-9:30pm)
    • Ticket Prices Vary, Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall
      • A fiery tale of love, obsession, and a woman in control of her own destiny. Sung in English with orchestra. All patrons are required to have a ticket, regardless of age. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.
  • Dawson Hollow at Scout Hall (Jan. 20 – 5:00pm)
    • $12 per ticket ($15 at the door), Scout Hall
      • Dawson Hollow is an American Indie-Folk-Rock band formed in 2016 by 5 siblings who have been touring, writing and making music together since 2001. Dawson Hollow’s unique brand of entertainment fuses the cinematic colors of pop, nostalgic string elements of Americana and iconic 5-part harmonies. Based out of the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, Dawson Hollow’s high energy performances offer supporting lyrics that carry a hopeful undertone.

  • Junior Chef’s Cooking Club Begins (Weekly – Starting Jan. 23, 5:30-7:00pm)
    • $25-$30 per participant**, A.C. Brase Arena
      • Get ready for a yummy, fun filled class! Each week, you will make (and eat!) a special treat while you learn about measuring, why food changes as it cooks, and of course, kitchen safety.   • Harlem Globetrotters 2024 World Tour (Jan. 24 – 7:00-10:00pm)
