**ADDED SPRIGG TO BIG BEND!** West End, Lexington, and More Street Updates

**Lexington Avenue project was recently expanded to include the section between Sprigg & Big Bend.**

North West End Boulevard recently opened and Lexington Avenue is up next for renovation. Voters approved the projects through the Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) renewals of 2010, 2015, and 2020.

N. West End was fully reconstructed from Bertling Street to Rose Avenue. Crews installed new curb and gutter, drainage improvements, sidewalks, streetlights, and even new sanitary sewer in part of the area. Stormwater and sewer replacement work was made possible by Parks, Recreation & Stormwater tax renewal funds, and sewer utility payments, respectively.

Lexington Avenue from Carolina to Sherwood, and from West Cape Rock to Sprigg, will be repaired and resurfaced much like the section finished in 2017 between Cape Rock Drive and Sherwood. The Lexington patch, overlay, and sidewalk project is anticipated to be approved by the City Council in January 2024, with construction starting as soon as winter weather allows and continues for 18 months ending in mid-2025.

“We originally planned to tackle Lexington after a few other projects but we all know those rapid repair patches only last so long and it was past time to act,” said Garrard. Earlier in the year, the City had announced rescheduling projects in response to the deteriorating roadway and citizen requests. South Sprigg and Bertling are expected among the next major TTF projects to follow Lexington.

Though most notable, West End and Lexington are not the only active street repair projects. As weather allows, work is also expected to start the first week January on Lynwood HIlls, then some order of Perryville, Clark, Abbey Road, and others - all funded by TTF.

Lacey Street through the hospital complex near Capaha Park was also recently completed. ER traffic in that area was temporarily diverted, but the roadway is now mostly open. Lacey was among several projects funded this year by the Capital Improvement Sales Tax renewal of 2019. Only some improvements to Lakeshore Drive remain on their annual list of concrete repairs made possible by CIST.
