Public Input - Street Renovation

Join us Thursday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. for an open house at the Osage Centre or Shawnee Park Center.

The Transportation Trust Fund 7 (TTF-7) Committee is seeking input from the public regarding projects to recommend to the City Council for inclusion on the ballot for the TTF-7 tax issue in April 2025. The Committee is charged with submitting a list of recommended projects based on an estimated tax revenue of $27 million over a five-year period. Of that amount, $2 million will be set aside for contingency. This leaves $25 million for projects. There are two categories of projects:

  • General Maintenance Projects. This category covers removal and replacement of damaged concrete panels, overlay of asphalt, and repair of related improvements such as curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. It also covers new construction of sidewalks to fill in short gaps in existing sidewalk systems. City staff use a standardized system to rate the condition of street surfaces throughout the city. This aids the staff in identifying and prioritizing the streets that are most in need of repair.
  • Specific Projects. This category covers construction of new streets as well as reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing streets, including related improvements. It also covers new streetscape elements and sidewalks that are not a part of a street project.
