Capaha Park
Capaha Park is oldest park in Cape Girardeau's park system, opening in 1914. This anchor park is located near Southeast Missouri State University at Broadway and West End Boulevard and covers over 39 acres. The park features a collegiate size baseball field and is home to the Capaha Baseball team, the longest running baseball team in the United States since 1894, the Southeast Missouri State University Redhawks baseball team, and the Cape Catfish, a prospect league team. The park contains a basketball court, three play structures, one restroom facility, three rentable shelters, a band shell, the Capaha Garden, a 3.5 acre fishing pond, and a disc golf course.

Trout fish in Capaha Park Pond!
The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) annual winter trout program begins November 1, 2024. Nearly 10,400 rainbow trout will be stocked in five Southeast Missouri waters - Perryville’s Legion Lake, Jackson’s Rotary Lake, Farmington’s Giessing Lake, Sikeston Recreation Complex Pond, and Cape Girardeau’s Capaha Park Pond.
Anglers can cast a line for trout fish through the fall and winter months on a catch-and-release basis. All trout must be immediately released and unharmed November 1, 2024 through January 31, 2025. During this time, anglers may only use flies, artificial lures, and unscented plastic baits. Only one fishing rod may be used at a time, and chum is not permitted. Beginning February 1, 2025, any bait may be used, and anglers may harvest trout until the trout fish run out, four trout may be kept regardless of size.
All anglers between the ages of 16 and 64 must retain a valid Missouri fishing permit and any angler harvesting trout must also possess a trout permit.
There will be 400 fish per acre, approximately 1,280 total trout fish for Capaha Park Pond.
The address for Capaha Park is 1400 Broadway St, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
