Cape Girardeau Community Ad-Hoc Aquatics Committee (2019)
The City of Cape Girardeau, Cape Girardeau Public Schools, and former mayors Harry Rediger and Jay Knudston have formed a committee to gather community input on the construction of a new aquatic facility. The committee will be working with a consultant to obtain updated estimates on construction and operating costs for a new pool. This new pool will be built on the campus of Jefferson Elementary and will be operated by the City and School.

Aquatics Facility Committee (2018)
Cape Girardeau citizens passed the renewal of the Parks, Recreation and Stormwater sales tax in April 2018, and the City moved forward with researching plans for the replacement of the aging Central Municipal Pool. The Aquatics Facility Committee researched design options, locations, and partners for this new, indoor aquatics venue. The committee met beginning in July 2018. A consultant was hired to help with the process, and public input was sought to assist with recommendations and feedback.
