City Council
Special Election for City Council Ward 5
A Special Election to fill the unexpired term for the City Council Ward 5 seat will be held in April of 2025, with a possible Primary Election in February of 2025. The term of this elected seat will run through April of 2028.
Nominations of candidates for elected office shall be by petition obtained from the Office of the City Clerk. Petitions for election shall be signed by not less than 50 registered voters who are residents of the ward for which the candidate is seeking nomination.
Election Timeline:
October 10, 2024 Nominating petitions available in the City Clerk's Office
October 22, 2024 Filing period opens
November 19, 2024 Filing period closes
February 4, 2024 Primary Election if more than two petitions are filed and found sufficient
April 8, 2025 Special Election
Candidates will appear on the ballot in the order of the filing of the nomination petitions certified sufficient.
Election for Mayor and City Council Wards 1,2,6
- The April General Election will be in 2026
Election for City Council Wards 3, 4, 5
- The April General Election will be in 2028
Nominations of candidates for all elective offices shall be by petition obtained from the Office of the City Clerk. Petitions for election shall be signed by not less than 50 registered voters who are residents of the ward for which the candidate is seeking nomination.
Candidates will appear on the ballot in the order of the filing of the nomination petitions certified sufficient.
Other Ballot Measures
The City Council may set special elections for various issues, with such special elections being held only on dates designated by the Missouri Secretary of State.
Registered voters of the City may file with the city an initiative or referendum petition to consider an ordinance or a recall petition for the Mayor or City Council member. If
said petition is found sufficient, the issue will be placed on a ballot for public vote, with such election being held only on dates designated by the Missouri Secretary of State.
