Independence Day - Celebrations, Hours, Safety

*The holiday affects every residential solid waste and recycling customer.*

In observance of the Independence Day holiday on Saturday, City Hall and various administrative offices across city departments will be closed on Friday, July 3. You can still leave messages by phone 573-339-6322, email our staff, or submit comments or inquiries online. Public safety and infrastructure services run 24 hours per day, everyday regardless of holidays and inclement weather. Recreation facilities will keep independent schedules as listed below. 

Fireworks, Safety and Events

  • Please celebrate safely. Learn more about fireworks safety and rules at cityofcape.org/fire.
    - Adult supervision required by law!
    - Keep water nearby just in case.
    - Stay away from flammable materials, schools, hospitals, gas pumps, etc.
  • The Great American 4th of July event has been postponed. Find more information on the Parks' website.

Trash & Recycling - Holiday Schedule THIS WEEK

  • Monday & Tuesday routes are on their normal days.
  • Thursday will be picked up Wednesday.
  • Friday will be picked up Thursday.

  • A.C. Brase Arena: Closed Friday – Sunday
  • Cape Splash: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Saturday
  • Cape SportsPlex: Closed Saturday
  • Central Pool: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Saturday
  • Jaycee Golf Course: 7:00 a.m. – dusk on Saturday
  • Osage Centre Office: Closed Friday – Sunday
  • Osage Centre: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday
  • Shawnee Park Center: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday
