2020 Endangered Buildings List Nominations Due March 6
Posted on 02/11/2020
The Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is now accepting nominations for its 2020 Endangered Buildings List through March 6.

Submit a nomination now

Nominations may be submitted by email to [email protected], or by mail to the Cape Girardeau Historic Preservation Commission, 401 Independence Street, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63703.

Nominations must include a statement explaining the building’s historic significance, why they believe it is endangered, suggestions for what measures could be taken to save it, and a photo of the building in its current condition (PDF, JPEG, or TIFF formats only for electronic submissions).

The HPC will review the nominations on March 25 and adopt the list on April 15. Both meetings are open to the public and will be held at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 401 Independence Street (subject to change).

The HPC created the list in 2012 to promote awareness of historic buildings in the community that are “at risk” of being lost due to pending demolition, physical deterioration, and/or long term vacancy. Former endangered properties lists are available at cityofcape.org/hpc.
