City of Cape Girardeau

Voters will decide April 8, 2025 whether to extend the Transportation Trust Fund Sales Tax, a 1/2 of one percent sales tax that has been renewed every five years since 1995 to improve the city's street network.

All City of Cape Girardeau water customers can continue drinking and using their water normally. The precautionary boil water advisory from Dec. 9 has been lifted. Test results show that City of Cape Girardeau water is clean and safe.

No holiday schedule for curbside trash and recycling over Christmas and New Years. Between Christmas and Jan. 10, we will be picking up a reasonable amount of extra trash. Christmas Tree disposal options available. Recreation facilities will keep independent schedules. Public safety and infrastructure services run 24 hours per day, everyday regardless of holidays and inclement weather.
